Inaugural Middle School Drama Club Performance a Sweet Success

The cast of Willy Wonka Jr. poses for a photo after the show

This school year, the South Park School District offered a new opportunity for middle school students to discover their interests and develop their talents by launching a middle school drama club. The club, led by high school educator Mr. Jeff Boles, first met in the fall to gauge student interest in a musical in the winter. And there was plenty of interest! Dozens of middle school students auditioned and signed up for roles on stage and behind the scenes.

After months of rehearsals and work, the drama club presented “Willy Wonka Jr.” on the stage at South Park Elementary Center on February 27 and 28 before two sold-out crowds! The little more than one-hour show wowed the audience as students performed, sang, and danced in the adaptation of the popular story. Bravo to the cast and crew, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the drama club in future years!
